Day 4 & 5: Bullet Train to Kyoto

Today we will take the bullet train out of Tokyo for Kyoto. Your three nights in Kyoto will be filled with cultural and culinary surprises. An authentic tea ceremony at a local Gion tea house. A chance to meet and sit with a real Kyoto Geisha. Meet our local guide for a full day guided tour to see some of Kyoto's 17 breath taking Unesco world heritage sites; Nijo Castle, Kinkakuji Golden Temple, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest etc.

If you have time on your free day, why not take a day trip out to Nara, Japan's first capital where the Emperor first reigned and home to the worlds largest bronze statue and wooden buildings.

Day 6: Historical Hiroshima & Magical Miyajima

★★Optional Tour: Hiroshima and Myajima Island★★

For those who wish to head west on the bullet train (2 hour journey), we will arrange a day trip to Hiroshima and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Miyajima Island. You can expect to visit the Peace Park, A-Bomb Dome, Miyajima Island Floating Shrine (Itsukushima Shrine) and savour the delights of the local ‘okonomiyaki’ (pancake) for lunch. (pay for lunch & entrance fees locally). Today’s day trip will return in the evening to your hotel in Kyoto or Osaka.

If you prefer to explore Kyoto some more, that’s your choice. Or, you can visit Osaka, Japan’s 2nd largest city.

Day 7: Mt Fuji Japanese Style

Before reaching Tokyo again, we will stop off for one night in a traditional Japanese ryokan. Onsen (hot spring baths), sleeping on a futon on tatami mats, kaiseki dinner, and original warm Japanese hospitality at its best awaits. This experience can only be found in Japan so when in Rome, we say, try it at least once during your stay!

Our local guide will also show you around the area. Lakes, cable car rides, mountain roads, magnificent views, and hopefully your chance to see the majestic Mt Fuji (weather permitting).
