Day 1: Arrive into Tokyo on October 25th, 2019

Arrive into Tokyo on your scheduled flight. If you can choose which airport, we recommend you to fly in and out of Haneda. It's closer! But Narita tends to have more international arrivals/departures so most likely you will be coming in to Narita. Also, if you are finding it difficult to get flights to arrive on the 21st, we can arrange pre-tour accommodation nights in Tokyo, depending on your arrival date.

You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel in Tokyo. Free time to relax and wash away any jet lag that may be there.

Stay: Tokyo or Yokohama central hotel (3 nights)

Day 4 : Tokyo - Kyoto (via Hakone/Mt Fuji Area)

There is no  better cure after three busy days and nights in Tokyo, than to escape to a rural retreat in Hakone. Located en-route to Kyoto, Hakone is a convenient hide away more famous for its views of Mt Fuji and the lovely Lake Ashi. You will be provided with the Hakone Free Pass, given instructions how to get to where we recommend, and away you go!

We highly recommend you sample a dip in the healing Onsen (hot springs) baths while in Hakone. Your travel pack will provide details on where to go and how to do this.

Arrive into Kyoto in the evening. Free time to explore the area around your hotel which will be located in a central convenient area.

Stay: Kyoto City Centre hotel (3 nights)

Day 5/6: Kyoto & Hiroshima

Kyoto is everything you expect Japan to be. Dotted throughout the city are 17 Unesco World Heritage Monuments (temples, shrines, gardens) making this city the most culturally rich and visually unique. A traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, an up-close-and personal chat with a real Kyoto Geisha, cycling through the back streets, roaming the quieter areas on your own, or just sitting in front of the river, people watching, Kyoto will not disappoint.

An important cultural activity we like to share in Kyoto is a traditional Tea Ceremony. In the evening you will have dinner with a Kyoto Geisha in a local restaurant. Shabu-Shabu Dinner included.

On your free day in Kyoto you can chose to head west on the bullet train to Hiroshima & Miyajima Island (day trip is possible).  Or if you prefer to stay closer to home, visit the First Capital and Unesco World Heritage Todaiji Temple in Nara. Nara is home to the largest bronzed statue and biggest wooden buildings in the world. Very impressive!

Don't worry about deciding this yet. Your rail pass will get you to either destination at no extra charge so you can decide when you are in Japan.

Day 7/8/9: Back to Tokyo for The Final

Make your way to Tokyo on the bullet train using your Japan Rail pass. You will have the chance to see the Bronze Final on Nov 01st if you wish or, use this time to explore Tokyo in some more depth. We will provide you with details on where to go and how to get there. If you need a private guide or wish to join a city tour, you can do this too. But no matter what you get up to, your last day in Japan watching the FINAL will undoubtedly be one of the rugby highlights of this trip and in your life. Transfers to the game are included to/from your hotel.

Day 10/11/12/13: Tropical Ishigaki Islands

After all the excitement, what better than to spend the next four nights on some of Japan's spectacular islands on the Pacific. You won't be disappointed, we assure you.

The sub-tropical island of Ishigaki is set in the Yaeyama Island chain 450km south west of the main Okinawa Island. Lying 1600km from Osaka and only 270km from Taiwan, it is sometimes quite hard to believe that Ishigaki is actually part of Japan. The white sandy beaches and coral reef along with the inland jungle and mountains make for a beautiful destination with its own unique culture.

Gorgeous palm tree beaches lie around the island with the temperature rarely dipping below 20 degrees Celsius throughout the year. From Ishigaki you can hop to some of the smaller islands that make up the Yaeyama archipelago, perhaps most notably Taketomi Island. You can explore the rustic red tiled villages by water buffalo taxi! Famous for its pristine beaches and traditional Okinawa rustic red tiled villages, transport on the island is by rental bike or water buffalo taxi! Don't worry though, you won't have far to go as it's a tiny island with very little to buy or do, apart from relax and enjoy the white sandy beaches and sunset.

Stay: Ishigaki ANA Intercontinental Resort (2 nights)

Taketomi Jima Peace Island (2 nights)

Ishigaki is located very near to Hong Kong and Taiwan. So, depending on the airline you are using, you could potentially fly west from here without going back to the mainland at all. Speak to us for more details on the best flights to book.
