Rugby Trail by Rail (England 3-4)

10 Days

Day 1: Arrive into Tokyo on October 4th

Arrive into Tokyo on your scheduled flight. If you can choose which airport, we recommend you to fly in and out of Haneda. It's closer! Narita tends to have more international arrivals/departures so most likely you will be coming in to Narita. If you have trouble finding flights and need to arrive one or two days earlier, your travel consultant can arrange pre-tour accommodation nights in Tokyo.

You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel in Tokyo. Free time to relax and explore your local area!

Stay: Tokyo City Centre Hotel (2 nights)

Day 2: Match Day Tokyo

Enjoy a buffet style breakfast at your hotel.

Free time in Tokyo until your transfer to game at approx 2pm.

Match transfers arranged directly to & from your hotel. We hope to arrive to the stadium approx. 2 hours before any game so you can enjoy the pre-match fun with the locals!

@ 17.00 Kick Off

Join our Post-Match Party at a local Izakaya (casual / local style dining) for an All-You-Can Eat & Drink for 2 hours (Included)!

Day 3 : Kanazawa

Today you will start your journey using your Japan Rail Pass. Ride the high speed bullet train up to Kanazawa, a smaller city also known as 'Little Kyoto'. Explore the city on your own, with the help of our travel pack instructions. Two of Kanazawa's must see highlights include; Kenrokuen Garden, considered one of Japan's top three gardens to see. For any art, architecture, and design lovers, the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art is well worth a visit.

Stay: Kanazawa City Centre Hotel (1 night)

Day 4: Takayama

Today you will move into the Hida Mountain range and Unesco World Heritage Shirakawago. Here you will visit the 400 year old thatched farm houses dotted in the tiny villages in this rural haven. Arrive into Takayama in the afternoon. Enjoy strolling around the old merchant housed streets, sampling the local street foods, morning market (the next day), folk houses etc.

Tonight will be your first experience staying in a traditional Japanese ryokan. Onsen (hot springs) and Kaiseki Hida beef dinner definitely a highlight!

Stay: Takayama Japanese Ryokan (1 night)

Day 5/6/7: Kyoto, Nara & Hiroshima

Using your Japan Rail Pass, move down to Kyoto, the ancient capital, for three nights. In the evening you will have the rare chance to meet, greet, and eat with a real Kyoto Geisha in a local restaurant. What a treat!

Join our Kyoto city sightseeing tour on your second day, visiting some of the 17 Unesco World Heritage monuments Kyoto has been awarded.

On your free day in Kyoto you can chose to head west on the bullet train to Hiroshima & Miyajima Island (day trip is possible).  Or if you prefer to stay closer to home, visit the nearby Unesco World Heritage Todaiji Temple in Nara. Nara is home to the largest bronzed statue and biggest wooden buildings in the world. Very impressive!

Don't worry about deciding this yet. Your rail pass will get you to either destination at no extra charge so you can decide when you are in Japan.

Stay: Kyoto City Centre Hotel (3 nights)

OR Traditional Townhouse (self-catering/Japanese style option)
